Gas Leak: Reporting & Safety Procedures

Please call 770-387-5642 IMMEDIATELY, at any time, to report a gas leak. 

Do not submit an email or online request, as a gas leak is an extremely serious situation. Our department needs to be notified as soon as you believe there is a problem.

What you also need to do:

Immediately evacuate the home/business and avoid any action that could cause a spark and avoid any sources of ignition such as electronic devices, lighters, cigarettes, light switches or landlines. 

Leave the door open on your way out to help evacuate fumes.

 

Saftey Procedures

  • A caller should give the address of the leak location.
  • Give the person's name who is calling to report the leak.
  • The caller should not operate any electric switches or devices.
  • The caller should extinguish all open flames; avoid using matches, cigarettes, or other sources of ignition.
  • The caller should evacuate the property immediately (go outside or to a neighbor's home, etc.)
  • The caller should give a phone number where they can be reached, other than the leak address since they must evacuate the building.
  • The on-call Gas Department Serviceman is being notified and will arrive as soon as possible.
