Municipal Elections
The City Clerk is the Qualifying Officer for the City of Cartersville. All elections are held by Bartow County Elections. A Mayor and six (6) Council Members govern the City of Cartersville. The City of Cartersville School Board is comprised of seven (7) members, representing the six (6) wards and one (1) representing the city-at-large. City elections are nonpartisan; i.e. candidates do not run as members of a particular political party, and their individual party affiliations are not relevant to their positions in city government. The Mayor serves a two (2) year term while each Council and School Board Member will serve a four (4) year term.
Candidate Qualifying
The candidate qualifying period has closed.
Any person interested in running for any of the positions up for re-election must qualify. To qualify, you can obtain a Qualification Packet from the city Clerks office beginning August 21, 2023. The qualifying period will run from Monday, August 21 through Thursday, August 24 from 8:30AM to 4:30PM each day. Packets must be completed and fees paid within the qualifying period. This November, municipal voters will elect the Mayor, (3) City Council seats: Ward 2, Ward 4, and Ward 6 and (3) School Board seats: At Large, Ward 3 and Ward 4.
Qualifying Fees are as follows: Mayor ($216.00) - Council Member ($144.00) - School Board ($35.00)
